Newsham and New Delaval

The New Delaval and Newsham Residents Association in Blyth has been in existence for several years now and proved to be a real succcess. The Associations Constitution covers the following areas:- Railway Cottages, Benridge Park, Cottingwood Green, New Delaval Estate, Willow Crescent, Newsham Farm Estate, South View, East Drive, West Drive and Barras Avenue West.

The Association has been involved in a number of initiatives since it was formed in January 2001 including:

  • Successfully worked with Blyth Valley Housing for the introduction of new doors and widows on the estate.
  • Introduced monthly garden inspections which are ongoing.
  • Produced regular resident newsletters.
  • Held regular resident meetings.
  • Raised the profile and mebership of the Association.
  • Worked closely with the Council, local schools, Northumberland Health and other agencies to introduce initiatives such as Walking Club, Toddler Group, Non Smoking Group and Luncheon Club.

The Association has achieved a lot but still plans to work with other agencies and individuals to improve the area in the following fields:-

  • Education
  • Health and Welfare
  • Training
  • New facilities such as a new play park
